God works in mysterious ways - Bible verses

Blessings come in different forms. A prayer can be answered in many ways. Our plans are not always what God has planned for us. That’s why it is often said God works in mysterious ways

Even though this exact phrase is not found in the Bible, read the following quotes about the way God works.

Deuteronomy 3:24

“Sovereign Lord, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?


Deuteronomy 32:3-4

3 I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!

4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just.

A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.


Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.


Ecclesiastes 11:5

As you do not know the path of the wind, how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,

so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

Psalm 71:15-16

15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—

though I know not how to relate them all.

16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.


Psalm 139:17-18

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—

when I awake, I am still with you.


Ecclesiastes 3:10-11

10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.


Ecclesiastes 8:16-17

16 When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the labor that is done on earth—people getting no sleep day or night—

17 then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.


Romans 11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[a] knowledge of God!

How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!


Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.



Even when we don't understand God completely, you can be sure that He always understands us.


Hebrews 4:14-15

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
